For this assignment, use a case from the field or from your own personal experience that presents an ethical dilemma that may be construed as having social importance. This assignment will be both a case study and a self-reflection.
1. Discuss why you felt conflicted. Was this a professional conflict or a personal value conflict? Did this conflict involve bias or judgment?
2. As you reflect on this conflict, did you believe it was of moral significance? In retrospect, were there elements of justice, autonomy, beneficence, or non-maleficence?
3. If this was a circumstance associated with an issue in the field, with whom did you discuss this? If it was a personal issue, did you seek outside advice from anyone? Did you find the advice helpful in either scenario?
4. Using your knowledge from ethical decision-making, what theory and moral principles best apply to this case?
5. How did you ultimately resolve this conflict? Were you satisfied with the resolution? Were there moral traces? If you had it to do over again, would you change any aspect of how you approached this conflict?
