Basing my arguments on O’Brien review, O’Brien stated to the jury how he had publicly burnt his registration card to persuade people to embrace his pacifist ideals so that others could reconsider their stances with Military Draft, the defense forces, and their role in today’s society. As this is in memory of many people, it provides an interesting debate topic about why he burned the certificates and the consequences after burning the registration certificates because of his beliefs.

The history on O’Brien review exists even if no one recalls it. Past is past; we cannot go backwards in time and alter anything or stop anything from happening. It isn’t like things run like a movie, which one can stop, repeat, and edit out the parts that you may not like. It is just like saying, “Or I don’t recall when we started the war, since the military aren’t there and everything is quiet. No, it does not function in that manner. Simply because a person does not recall everything detail by detail does not imply it did not happen or exist. Stating that the occurrence did not happen so nobody recalls it would be like claiming that history did not happen since no one is alive to recall it. Believing that the world revolves around people or other cognitive creatures is an egotistical way of looking at the world.
