Successful answers include a thesis and specifics that address the question in the form of examples taken from the course readings, primary documents, or notes that support those assertions. A thesis should be underlined in the last sentence of the first paragraph. 

Submitted answers with few specifics and examples will not earn high marks.

1. 1. France established an immense colony in North America. Describe two consequences of the French establishing New France. Explain which of the two proved most momentous and why impacting the region. 

2. Religion shaped how Non-Separatist Puritans settled the Massachusetts Bay colony during the mid-seventeenth century. Explain two Puritan religious beliefs. Did the Puritans succeed in creating a “New Jerusalem” in America? Why or why not?

3. Each of the English colonies began differently. Describe two differences between Pennsylvania and Virginia’s founding. Which colony proved more successful and why?
