There have been claims of widespread voter fraud made for several years at this point (this is not a new phenomenon). However, such claims have been put forth as reasons that certain election laws (such as Voter ID laws) are necessary. For this part of the assignment, you will search for evidence that is from a reliable and academic source (a quick way to assess this is whether the hyperlink ends in .edu) as to whether there is evidence to support such a claim.
Google Scholar, the John Tyler Library website, and the https://www.academia.edu/
Links to an external site. website are good resources to use to search. You may NOT use The Heritage Foundation website (they are a non-profit think tank with shoddy methodology and misleading data). You may also find news articles discussing research on this topic. That is fine, link the news article but be sure to ALSO link and cite the actual research (it is not a reliable article if they do not provide a citation or link to the original research).
You are welcome and encouraged to ask me if you have any questions or concerns regarding a source.
In your written response:
1. Provide a link to your source (if unable to link provide the Title and Author’s names) and discuss what it stated regarding voter fraud.
2. Discuss your thoughts and reactions to the claims of voter fraud and how they influence political polarization. Incorporate your research findings into your analysis.
Initial post and a response to at least one classmate due by the posted due date.
Your initial post that you make should be a MINIMUM of eight THOUGHTFUL sentences. However, this assignment will likely warrant more than this for a proper discussion.
A thoughtful sentence goes beyond the simple observation, or agreement with something. A thoughtful sentence contributes something new and original to the conversation. Your responses to a fellow classmate must be a minimum of three thoughtful sentences (do not simply agree with them or say that you liked what they said. That is NOT an original contribution. See the above rubric for more.
