                           Example

In the Dell computer industry, customers demand high delivery speed, high quality, and low prices. Dell is the leading in the industry because of its good delivery speed and costs, which are inadequate. Other computer industries such as Compaq have reformed their business and operation policies to compete with Dell. The Compaq Company wanted to overtake Dell, so this was not accomplished. Environmental scanning enables companies to get market trends, examine competition, and recognize what that firm is gaining goods or services from external providers. Through noncore outsourcing activities, a firm focuses on the core capabilities. For example, Meijer grocery and general merchandise retailer made a subcontract of all carriage of all its products to a corporation known as Total logistic control (TLC) to focus on proficiencies.
