The British Associationist, Thomas Brown, played an essential role in human learning and human knowledge. He proposed various principles of human learning and human knowledge. Among them is the principle of frequency.  The principle of frequency claims the “consistent repetition of a pair of particular items until memorization or learning has occurred.” His ideas were later supported and illustrated by Ebbinghaus. He helped to prove the frequency principle by referring to learning. Ebbinghaus demonstrates a significant improvement in gaining knowledge after several repetitions of 10- 20 times (Mazur, 2016). That is, the more you repeat an item, the more you gain knowledge even after perfection has been achieved. Consequently, overlearning is a result of the principle of frequency, that is, continuous training. Accordingly, overlearning is achieved after consistent improvement of a skill has no longer increased. Through constant learning, it can be proved how continuous learning has impacted the brain.

From my past experienced, I had a learning experience on the principle of frequency. In my psychology class, I had a chance to continuously learn and build off my letters week work. The constant learning and relearning of psychological concepts help me understand and build upon my subsequent career. The professor continuously taught to help us build a strong foundation for the next week’s lesson during the class itself. Throughout the learning experience, I realized that continuous learning had a positive impact on my mind. It was clear that the constant repetition of items until memorization and learning is achieved can be proved in real-life situations (Mazur, 2016). I was able to memorize psychological concepts which I was not able to learn before. After various weeks of repeated relearning, restudying, rereading, and reviewing, I was able to learn and remember due to the continuous repetition.
